the first raindrop of the year
had hoped to hit the ground
instead it graced a leaf and bounced
back up into a million and to
whet the lips of an eager season

one day we should all go down
and feed the barnacles
the gulls and the breeze have enough
light and spray to sing on
that the tidepools reflect their joy
through ripples and whelks
upward into a stony eye.

at night the daffodils sleep
and the oaks keep watch
at dawn they switch
until the dandelions are ready
to take over for summer.
"look out!"
a burning opportunity.

al arbour

i nearly fell over a log
can't remember if i didn't saw it
or knew it was there
or tried to straddle or
hurdle jump it

falled on a log
in the woods
wasn't sure if the woods was slippery
this was not on the beach

i sawed a log so big
i could go underneath it
below it i could not go all the way
beneath it, however with this log
i could not
but i have with others

i walked on a log so long
i could not count all of the branches
for they were beneath it
even though some had fallen off
i couldn't count olive them

i walk on one log
so long

nothing much to say.
just sitting, waiting,
to spend another evening at the hospital.

its that time of year, and the camas is starting
what looks to be a a strong bloom.
perhaps my favourite flower.

i know its sounds cheesy
but there is no trick to coping
your wall or hardening shell keeps out the reality
and in the realization
that everything either makes you laugh
or it all makes you desperately sad.
as if there's a choice.

today i threw my case out the window.
as it fell it whistled and as it crashed
it crashed.

on what was once snow
trickles into a torrent
waves away silence

we've festered up the wherewithal
to wheel out that which rolls
and christened the pavement
with spiny wet trails
and slick spray whip
feels good to fly down the freeway

i was thinking that if Burl Ives were still alive
today i'd like to produce a live recording of his
performance and call it Burl Live.
better than Burl Lives.

my hair is getting rather…unruly.

happy new ear.

music is far easier heard than done.

my sister aksed me to define
living life to its fullest.
good question.
once one defines it,
how common is it to ascertain whether or not
one does so?

nightowl

my affinity for the night is a personal issue.
the reason i want to sleep during daylight is that it represents
responsibility. perhaps daylight symbolizes life. something i avoid.
that can't be true though for death is probably my greatest fear.
i think i'm onto something here.
not sure what.

Tuesday, December 16, 2003

OK.
I'm alright if anyone is wondering.
Just being a web hermit.
Which means I'm normal in my day-to-day life.
Just not into vanity scribblings as of late.
Been busy. With the upcoming Xmas break I'm
sure to come out of my shell again.
Nothing really new except the beard trimmer.
I may sing a song for an Xmas CD.

last night i thought i heard the man on the tv says tummybirds.
now... i don't know about you, but i ain't never heard of tummybirds.
and he didn't even say that.
said something completely different and unrelated.
but i thought it would be a good replacement word for when you is nervous like.
like when you tell people you have bitter fries in your stomach.

seen some really good films.
until today. some really disappointing Canadian shorts.
its enough to make one apoplectic thinking these were even
considered nevermind programmed.

Sokurov screenings sold-out.
cannot figure if those is a good thing or not.

ZeD launches tomorrow.
